Jimmy Carter Just Can’t Shut Up

“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American. I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that shared the South’s attitude toward minority groups, at that time particularly African-Americans. That racism, inclination, still exists. And I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of a belief among many white people, not just in the South, but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply.”

— Jimmy Carter

Idiot.

My problem with what President Carter said is that he is further marginalizing presidential opposition. If you listen to the media we are all a bunch of Astroturf orginizin’, gun totin’, bible thumpin’, good ol’ buys gunnin’ fer a fight. Like to be anti-Obama, or more correctly, anti-Obama’s Legislative agenda automatically means we’re racist.

To borrow from Jay-Z, I got 99 problems but race ain’t one.

Look at how they’re painting the 9/12 rally in DC. I’ve heard estimates of 2 million patriots taking back DC in peaceful protest. (Can you guess the network?) Another network estimated that 750 thousand Tea Party protesters marched on the Capital. But if you listen to one liberal leaning network, Bubba and 40 of his best buds loaded up the Winnebago and dang nab it came to take Obama to the woodshed. Is that what we’re doing? Using the Goldilocks equation to pick out our news network? “This network’s too liberal, and that network’s too conservative…”

People, I was there. While I don’t pretend to be an expert on sizing up crowds, I used my eyes and could see that there was way more people there than was being widely reported. But I guess they have to downplay the size of the crowd. Why? American’s is willing to believe that there is a small group of vocal racists. 2 million? That would either mean there are marauding packs of racists in every corner of America, or that some of these people are just protesting policy.

Saying Obama protesters in general, and Republicans’ specifically are racist is a great tool for the left. It makes every move of the opposition suspect and fuels a paranoia that pits American against American and will go down as this generation’s McCarthyism.

On Sunday, Jimmeh told the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo that he believes the Bush Administration was likely behind a coup against Hugo Chavez in 2002 in Venezuela.

“I think there is no doubt that in 2002, the United States had at the very least full knowledge about the coup, and could even have been directly involved,” said the man whose favorite pastime these days is to huddle up with anti-American thugs.

Carter is senile, he has to be.
