“There are certain things only a government can do,” he said. “One of those things is ensuring that the foods we eat, and the medicines we take, are safe and do not cause us harm.”

Overlooking the fact that food is consumer driven, and any edible that makes people sick is soon to find itself sitting on the shelf with no one buying, what Obama really means is “let me spend more money”.

Obama also said he will ask Congress for $1 billion in new funds to add inspectors and modernize laboratories, and said the Agriculture Department is moving ahead with a rule change banning all sick or disabled cattle from entering the food supply.

Appointing yet another Clinton crony should help out, I’m sure.

Bottom line, Obama is spending ONE BILLION for what amounts to an average of 350 total illnesses a year. Worthy of note is that his pick for head of the FDA, Margaret Hamburg, sits on the board of the Sidwell Friends School, which Obama’s daughters attend and her husband is Peter Fitzhugh Brown, an artificial intelligence expert who is executive vice president and director of Renaissance Technologies Corp., a privately owned hedge fund.
